To contribute to the conservation of the planet, we are identifying and analyzing our most significant environmental impacts under the relevant issues defined and working on them in order to minimize them.
The relevant issues of this priority are:
SDGs impacted by environmental performance are:
Efficiency use of water is a vital for ensuring the sustainability of our planet.
Colombina strives to manufacture using the least possible amount of water, treat what we use, then return this resource to its river sources in optimal condition.
We have Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) at our 7 production plants, in which COP 20.6 million have been invested over the last three years.
Energy efficiency entails maintaining, or even reducing, the amount of energy used in producing at increasing volumes.
Such efficiency provides genuine reductions in Greenhouse Gas Emissions at a moderate cost, rendering it indispensable within the larger scope of Sustainable Development.
We are aligned with Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Accord – it graps the importance of contributing both as a company and as a country to Carbon Footprint Reduction.
In 2020 we acquired four 100% natural-gas vans, that will allow us a reduction of up to 26% in our carbon footprint and migration to cleaner fuels
In line with the Paris Agreement, and joining the National Contribution of Colombia, from Colombina we have decided to present our science-based objective for 2030, to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 13%
Our Waste Reduction and Management runs the gamut from animal-feed cuts to the suitable disposition of un-recyclable or re-used waste.
Our cookies and crackers plant obtained the recertification in the Zero Waste Management System in the GOLD category, distinguishing itself as a venue where “garbage” is a raw material to be exploited
We are committed to operating sustainably under the principle of the Circular Economy, which is based on designing products with no waste or pollution, aiming to keep materials in use and regenerating natural systems.
Our packaging strategy is focused on the following three components:
3Circularity and recycling
Over the course of 2020, we kept up with our participation in the 30/30 Vision collective, which is an initiative led by hundreds of companies committed to close the cycle of packaging and packaging materials, contribuiting to a circular economy. For 2021, our transformation objective is 10% and looking forward to achieve 30% in 2030
